Pool School & Home School Assessments
All new swimmers entering our Pool School and Home School programs are assessed to ensure they are placed in the group that best matches their current swimming ability.
If you are interested in either program, please book an assessment using the assessment link on the front page of our website.
Questions about assessments or our learn-to-swim programming can also be directed to our Pool School Coordinator, Margot Macdonald, at poolschool@laserswimming.ca.
We encourage families to book early, as assessment spaces can fill quickly!
Para Programming
We have several options available for our para program! If you are interested in our para programming, please contact our Para Learn to Swim Coordinator, Shelby Newkirk, at shelby@laserswimming.ca.
Shelby can help identify which program is the best fit for your swimmer(s) within all of our club programming!
Our para programming includes:

Competitions
At the top of our website, you’ll find a Competitions tab. This page outlines the recommended competitions for each of our competitive groups and is a great place to start when planning your season and I would recommend you put these dates into your own calendar!
As meet information becomes available through Swimming Canada, competitions will be added to the Events tab on our website and opened for registration. Once an event has been posted and registration is available, an email will be sent to members letting you know that the event is open for sign-up.
We encourage competitive families to regularly check the Competitions page so you are familiar with the meets recommended for your swimmer's group.
Question & Answer Sessions
This season, we will be offering monthly Competitive Program Question & Answer Sessions for families.
These sessions are an opportunity to connect with our coaching staff and ask questions about:
Competitions and which meets your swimmer should attend
How to navigate our website and find important information
Meet registration and sign-up procedures
Time standards and qualifying times
Championship and qualifying meets
Understanding your swimmer's competitive pathway
General questions about our competitive program
Dates and times for the Q&A sessions are posted on our Events page. There is no sign up required - just click the link!
Welcoming Margot to a Full-Time Role
We are also very excited to share that Margot Macdonald's role with the Lasers has expanded and she is joining us as a full-time coach!
Margot will continue in her role as our Pool School Coordinator, where she has done an great job developing and strengthening our learn-to-swim program which has elevated our programs at all levels.
Her role will now expand into other areas of the club. Margot will take on lead roles with our Home School Program, Masters Program, Swim Fit and White 1 competitive group.
Margot has played an important role in elevating our developmental programming and creating a strong foundation for swimmers entering our club. We are very excited to have her joining us in this new capacity!
There is a lot happening at the Lasers this season, with opportunities for swimmers at all ages and stages. We look forward to seeing everyone back at the pool and stay tuned to your emails as we approach the start of the competitive season as more information will come!
