Meet Wrap Up: Mike Mintenko SummerFest (Jun 21-22)

Hello TEAM,

What's red, black and WET all over? Every LASER athlete, coach and parent this weekend at the Mike Mintenko SummerFest Invitational, held in Moose Jaw this past weekend. I've been to a few outdoor meets in my day but never hit with so much rain, which was an experience to remember for all. I know it may sound cliché, but meets like this truly build character and challenge athletes to step up and race under circumstances less than ideal. As they say, it's easy to race great when everything goes right, but a true champion finds a way to race great, even when things out of your control do not go accordingly to plan. We had many athletes out of their comfort zones with the rain, wind and simply being at an outdoor event, but the LASERS stepped up this weekend and did a great job 'finding a way' to race, and as a result everyone leveled up their racing game. Well done TEAM!

What a great way to wrap up the season. Together as a TEAM, racing hard, cheering loud, outside in the sunshine, I mean RAIN (still such a fun time). So many great memories made (athletes and parents). A big thank you to all that braved the elements and represented LASERS this weekend. Have a wonderful summer break, stay fit, stay healthy and see you in September for an even bigger and better year of swimming excellence. For those athletes racing at Man/Sask, Canada Games, or Nationals/Worlds, we will see you back on deck, as your break will have to wait. Let's go LASERS!!!
