Meet Wrap Up: Man/Sask Long Course Champs (Jul 9-12th)
Hello TEAM,
With the exception of the Para Pan Pacific Championships, (which both Shelby and Coach Ryan were named to the National TEAM and will be attending in Walnut California later next month), the regular season has come to a close for our LASERS, with our final meet being Man/Sask, held this past weekend in Sunny Saskatoon. As always there was some great swims, many best times, club records, qualifying swims and yes a couple tough ones too, reminding us that there is always more work to be done. I believe that this LASERS TEAM continues to grow everyday into something special and unique. We are elevating the performance, not only of our club but of the entire province, and its being seen by anyone who's paying attention. Change does take time but it seems with each passing month the culture of excellence that we are growing here becomes more evident and people are taking notice and communicating their excitement to see what LASERS will do next - this just motivates us even more. Not to give too much away, but we have a great year lined up for the 2026-27 swim season and its one that you will not want to miss out on - stay tuned for more info about next season! Extras: BIG congrats to both Rowyn Petersen and Phillip Shorte for being selected to the Sask provincial relays! This is a fun, privilege, given to the fastest athletes in their age group for a specific stroke/event (Phillip for 50 Breast and Rowyn for 50 Back). Also a HUGE congrats to Rowyn for posting her first OJI (Ontario Junior International) qualifying time in 50BK. OJI is one of the fastest 18 and under short course meets in the world, hosted by swim Ontario in mid December. Often you will see, Great Britain, Japan, South Korea, USA and other countries represented to showcase their JR 18 and under athletes, it's a best of the best meet and Rowyn will get the opportunity to race these super fast JR athletes early next season - Way to go Rowyn and way to go TEAM!
